Ph.D. position in the Mind & Brain Lab

The Mind & Brain Lab at the Department of Psychology, University of Ljubljana is looking for a PhD candidate to work in the research program "Physiological Mechanisms of Neurological Diseases and Dysfunctions".

The training of the young researcher will take place under the supervision of assist. prof. Anka Slana Ozimič, PhD, in the interdisciplinary field of cognitive neuroscience. The work will focus on areas such as working memory, cognitive control, emotional processing, but research in related areas such as applied cognitive psychology, neurophenomenology, psychopathology, and music cognition is also possible. Work and training will be adapted to the candidate's interests and competencies. We expect the focus to be on the analysis of multimodal neuroimaging data, with an emphasis on brain activity and functional connectivity using advanced analysis methods such as network analysis and machine learning

 The young researcher will be involved in the design, implementation and analysis of behavioral, EEG and fMRI studies. Basic knowledge and experience in areas of cognitive neuroscience (psychology, cognitive science, neurobiology) and/or statistical data analysis, network analysis, signal processing, and machine learning is desirable. Experience in experimental cognitive psychology, familiarity with EEG and fMRI, knowledge of the programming languages Matlab, Python and R, and experience with the UNIX/POSIX operating systems are welcome.

 Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the work, candidates with backgrounds ranging from psychology to computer science are welcome. 

 Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate:

  • perseverance and responsibility; 
  • openness to acquiring new knowledge and skills; 
  • excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
